Sonic Screwdriver

The TARDIS USB hub made by Wesco is a scale model of the Doctor Who TARDIS measuring 12cm high and 6cm wide/deep.

As well as being a scale model of the TARDIS, the device is a 4 port USB2 hub. By connecting the TARDIS to your computers USB port using the included 1.4m USB cable, you are able to connect a further 4 devices to the hub and thus to your computer. These devices could include printers, scanners, digital cameras, mobile phone charges or any other device than uses the USB system.

Upon connecting the TARDIS USB hub to your computer, the lantern illuminates in blue and stays illuminated until the device is disconnected. When an additional USB device is connected to the TARDIS USB Hub then the TARDIS materialization sound is heard and repeated 5 times, starting loud and gradually fading. During this time the blue lantern also flashes on and off. There is also a on/off button located on the back of the TARDIS USB hub to turn the sound effects off if required.

On the front of the TARDIS USB hub is a demo button, concealed behind the white police notice on the front door. Pressing the demo button will instigate the sound effects and flashing lantern.

The TARDIS USB hub can be powered by an external power adaptor but this is not supplied in the Australian version. Instead, power is source from the computer via the USB cable.

The TARDIS USB hub is of the faster USB2 variety and is compatible with both PC and MAC computers.

Retailing from $42 to $69, The TARDIS USB hub is a fun device with practical applications. All in allThe Sonic Screwdriver is made by Wesco is a replica of the Sonic Screwdriver carried by Dr Who.

The sonic screwdriver measures 13cm in length and doubles as an LED torch.

Various parts of the device are made from silver, grey or black plastic, giving the sonic screwdriver quite an authentic look. The plastic is fairly robust and doesn't look as though it would snap easily.

One end of the Sonic Screwdriver contains an LED torch which when operated using the on/off switch emits a strong blue LED light. The torch is quite bright for a device of it's size and cost.

This particular sonic screwdriver does not have any other functions, such as the ability to open locked doors, emit pulses or sound waves or destroy enemies !

With a high street price of less than $10, the sonic screwdriver offers good value for money.

Masters Laser Screwdriver

Laser Screwdriver

While the Doctor has his sonic screwdriver, the Master has his laser screwdriver.

Although similar in name, the laser screwdriver is used more often than not as a weapon rather than as a tool as with the Doctors sonic screwdriver.

This replica of the masters laser screwdriver measures 21.5cm in length and is designed in imitation brass and silver. The laser screwdriver is longer and heavier than it's sonic screwdriver counterpart and comes with additional features.

These features include a spring loading which allows the laser screwdriver to expand as well as two different sound affects and two LED lights.

The laser screwdriver requires 3 x LR44 batteries to operate and these are included with the device.
